Terms of Use
Transcribe · Last updated 12 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and us for the Transcribe app. Please read section 5, on the accuracy of transcription, and section 6, on recording other people — those two matter more than the rest.
1. Who these terms are with
Transcribe is published by Enacti Ventures Private Limited (CIN: U72900HR2019PTC081522), 931F, Sector 21, Panchkula, Haryana, India. Contact: services@enacti.com.
By downloading or using the app you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
2. Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Transcribe on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.
You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense the app, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
2.1 Who may use it
You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 13 in any case. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Transcribe only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms with you. The app has no account system and asks you for no personal details, so we have no way to verify anyone's age and rely on this.
3. Purchases and subscriptions
Transcribe is distributed through the App Store. Transcribe Pro is what the app sells, and it is what dictating, transcribing and the writing tools require. Which features it covers is shown on the purchase screen inside the app, before you buy anything, and may change between versions; the purchase screen at the moment you buy is what applies to that purchase.
| Plan | Renews |
|---|---|
| Weekly subscription | Every week, automatically |
| Annual subscription | Every year, automatically |
| Lifetime | One-time purchase, does not renew |
The current price of each plan is shown inside the app, in your own currency, before you confirm anything. Prices are set per territory through the App Store and may differ between countries. We do not publish prices in this document, because they may change; the price displayed to you at the moment of purchase is the price that applies.
Auto-renewal terms
Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price of the plan you selected.
You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your Apple Account settings after purchase. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the period you are currently in, and you keep Pro until that period ends.
3.1 Introductory offers
An introductory offer may be available on a subscription plan. Where one is offered, its length, its price and its terms are shown on the purchase screen before you confirm, and those are the terms that apply.
An introductory offer is available once per Apple Account per subscription group. If you have used one before, the purchase screen will show you the standard price instead. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before an introductory period ends, it converts automatically to a paid subscription at the price shown, and your Apple Account is charged. You can cancel at any time during the period in your Apple Account settings. While an introductory period is running you have Pro in full, including the removal of advertising.
3.2 Lifetime and Family Sharing
The Lifetime purchase is a one-time, non-consumable purchase. It is enabled for Family Sharing, so members of your Apple Family group can use it. "Lifetime" means for as long as we publish and support Transcribe on the App Store; it is not a guarantee that the app will be available indefinitely, and it does not entitle you to a different product.
3.3 Existing Pro owners
If you purchased Transcribe Pro before this version, your purchase continues to apply and you are not asked to pay again. You retain access to the app's Pro features at no further charge, under the same one-time purchase you already made, and that includes features added after your purchase.
3.4 Refunds
All purchases are made through the App Store and Apple handles all billing. We cannot issue refunds directly. Refund requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, and are decided under Apple's policies. Statutory rights of withdrawal or cancellation that apply where you live are unaffected by this paragraph.
3.5 Price changes
We may change prices for future purchases and renewals. Where a change affects an existing subscription, Apple will notify you and, where required, ask you to consent before the change takes effect. You can always cancel instead.
3.6 If your subscription ends
Notes you have already made stay readable, searchable and exportable, for ever. Whether you cancel, let an introductory period lapse, or never buy at all, the app does not lock you out of your own transcripts or your own recordings, and it never deletes them.
What requires Pro is making something new. Dictation, importing a recording, and the writing tools stop until a purchase is active again; everything already in your library stays open to you, and plain text, Markdown and the original audio export with no purchase at all.
4. Advertising and analytics
The app shows advertising to users who do not have Transcribe Pro. Pro removes every ad in the app, on iPhone and on iPad, and an active introductory period counts as Pro while it runs.
Ads are served by Google AdMob in three places — a banner below your notes list, a full-screen ad when you leave a finished note, and a full-screen ad when you return to the app. No ad is shown while you are recording, over a transcript, or over a sheet. Where a consent choice is required, it is asked for before any ad is requested and can be changed at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Ad preferences. The app also counts how it is used with Google Analytics for Firebase, under the same consent, and Pro switches that off as well.
Those are Google services and your use of them is also subject to Google's own terms. We do not control which advertisements are served, and an advertisement appearing in the app is not an endorsement by us of the advertiser or of what it sells. Dealings with an advertiser are between you and them.
What is collected, what is never collected, and how to stop it are set out in the Privacy Policy, section 5. In short: no event ever carries a word you dictated, and your recordings and transcripts are never sent to Google or to anyone else.
Separately, and for the avoidance of doubt: we do not pay to advertise Transcribe on any platform.
5. Transcription is not a record — please read this
Speech recognition makes mistakes. Accents, background noise, crosstalk, technical vocabulary, names, numbers, and quiet speech all reduce accuracy, and the app cannot tell you which words it got wrong.
Check the transcript before you rely on it. The app keeps your recording alongside the text and lets you tap a word to hear what was actually said, precisely so that you can check.
Do not treat a Transcribe transcript as a verbatim or certified record. It is not suitable, on its own, as a medical record, a legal record, a court or deposition transcript, a regulatory filing, an accessibility accommodation where accuracy is required by law, or any other purpose where an error could cause harm or loss.
The same applies to the writing tools. Clean-up, summaries, action items, rewriting, and translation are generated automatically from what the app heard. They can omit something important, change emphasis, or state something the speaker did not say. You are responsible for reading what the app produced before you send it, sign it, or act on it.
Language availability depends on your device and on Apple's on-device speech recognition, and a language may need to download a model from Apple before it can be used. Some features require hardware that supports Apple Intelligence. We cannot guarantee that a particular language or feature will be available on a particular device.
6. Recording other people
The law on recording conversations varies by country and by state, and it is your responsibility, not ours. In many places it is an offence to record a conversation without the consent of the people in it — in some places every participant must consent, in others one participant is enough.
By using Transcribe to record anyone other than yourself, you confirm that you have whatever consent or authority the law where you are requires, and that you will use the recording lawfully.
We provide the recording function. We do not and cannot check who is being recorded or whether they agreed, and we accept no liability for a recording you make. The app can play an audible tone when recording starts, so that everyone in the room can hear it begin — Settings › Dictation. Whether that is enough where you are is a question about your local law, and this document does not answer it.
7. Your content
Your recordings, transcripts, and notes are yours. We claim no ownership of them and no licence to use them.
We do not receive them. They are stored on your device, and the written part of them is mirrored to your own iCloud account; your recordings are not uploaded anywhere at all. So we cannot recover any of it for you if you lose it, and we cannot produce it if someone asks us to.
Keeping your own copies of anything important is your responsibility. The app exports a note as plain text, Markdown, PDF, a Word document, subtitles, a transcript with timestamps, or the original audio file; plain text, Markdown and the original audio need no purchase, so getting your own words out of the app never depends on a subscription.
8. Acceptable use
You may not use Transcribe to record or transcribe anyone unlawfully, to infringe someone else's rights, to harass or defraud, or to do anything else illegal where you are. You may not interfere with the advertising the app shows, or with the purchase mechanism, in order to obtain Pro features without paying for them.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any transcription will be accurate.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of your use of the app — including any loss or harm caused by an inaccurate transcription or by a recording you made.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
11. Termination
This licence ends if you stop using the app or delete it, or if you breach these terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive — sections 7 through 10 in particular — survive termination.
12. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation in respect of the app.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the app, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.
- Apple is not responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, or discharge of any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and material changes will also be described in the App Store release notes for the version that introduces them. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed exclusively by the laws of India. The courts at Panchkula, Haryana, India have sole and exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, claim or proceeding arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of the app, and you submit to that jurisdiction. No other forum, court or tribunal has jurisdiction, and you agree not to commence or pursue proceedings anywhere else.
Nothing in this section removes a right you have, as a consumer, to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, where the law of that country gives you that right and it cannot be contracted out of.
