Privacy Policy

Compass is built to work without knowing who you are. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking. This policy explains the few specific moments when information does leave your device, and why.
1. Who we are
Compass ("the app") is published by Enacti Ventures Private Limited ("we", "us"), a company incorporated in India (CIN: U72900HR2019PTC081522) and registered at 931F, Sector 21, Panchkula, Haryana, India. You can reach us at services@enacti.com.
This policy covers the Compass iOS app. It does not cover any other product or website.
2. The short version
- We have no servers. We do not operate a backend, so there is nowhere for us to store your data even if we wanted to.
- We never see your location. Your position is read by your device and used on your device.
- No accounts. You never give us a name, email address, or password to use the app.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking. The app contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs and does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
- Three things do leave your device, in specific circumstances, described in section 4.
3. Information the app uses on your device
All of the following is read and used locally. None of it is transmitted to us.
Location
With your permission, the app reads your location to show your coordinates, your position on the map, the bearing and distance to your saved waypoints, sunrise and sunset times, and the direction of the Qibla. If you use track recording, the app may continue to read your location while it is in the background, so that the track does not break when your screen locks.
Motion and compass heading
The app reads the magnetometer and motion sensors to determine which way your device is pointing, to level the bubble level, and to drive the tilt effect on the compass dials.
Camera
With your permission, the camera is used by the AR Compass tool, which draws cardinal markers over the live view, and by the Sight-line Photo tool, which captures a photo with the bearing rendered into the image. Camera frames are processed on your device in real time and are not recorded except when you deliberately take a photo.
Photos
With your permission, the app can save a Sight-line Photo to your photo library, and can read a photo you choose to attach to a waypoint. The app only ever accesses the specific photos you select.
Purchases
The app records whether a Pro entitlement is active so it does not have to ask Apple on every launch. This is a single true-or-false value stored on your device. It contains no payment information.
4. When information leaves your device
There are three cases, and only three. In each of them the recipient is named below.

4.1 Place search
When you search for a place by name, the text you type and the map region you are looking at are sent to Apple's mapping service to return results. We do not receive or log these searches. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy, linked above.
4.2 Weather data for the Wind tool
The Wind tool shows current and forecast wind conditions for where you are. To do that, the app sends your latitude and longitude to WeatherAPI.com, a third-party weather service we do not operate, and receives a forecast in return.
This request contains your coordinates. It does not contain your name, your device identifier, your Apple Account, or any other identifier that we attach. We do not receive a copy of it. WeatherAPI.com's own handling of that request is governed by their privacy policy at weatherapi.com/privacy.aspx.
If you do not open the Wind tool, no coordinates are ever sent to WeatherAPI.com. Every other feature of the app works without it.
4.3 Purchases
Subscriptions and the Lifetime purchase are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Payment details never pass through the app, and we never see them. We receive only anonymised, aggregated sales reporting from Apple, which does not identify individual customers. See the Apple Privacy Policy.
5. What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with anyone.
- We do not use your information for advertising, and we show no ads.
- We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not request App Tracking Transparency permission because we have nothing to track you with.
- We do not build profiles, and we run no automated decision-making.
- We do not include third-party analytics, attribution, or advertising SDKs.
6. Your choices
- Location: revoke at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services. The compass will still show heading; position-dependent features will stop.
- Camera and Photos: revoke at any time in iOS Settings. Only the AR Compass and Sight-line Photo tools depend on them.
- Motion: revoke at any time in iOS Settings. Heading accuracy and the tilt effect will degrade.
- The Wind tool: simply do not open it, and no coordinates are sent.
7. Keeping and deleting your data
Your waypoints, tracks, and preferences live on your device and nowhere else. Deleting the app removes them.
We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing for you to request from us and nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
8. Security
Data stored on your device is protected by iOS file-level encryption and your device passcode. Network requests made by the app use HTTPS.
9. Your rights
We hold no personal information about you. There is no account, no server-side record, and no identifier linking you to us — so there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct, export, or delete on your behalf, and nothing that could be disclosed to anyone else.
Data-protection law in several regions — including the EU and UK GDPR, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and the California Consumer Privacy Act — gives people rights over personal information a company holds about them, and provides for complaints to a supervisory authority. Those laws apply to what a company actually holds. In our case that is nothing.
The data controller for this app is Enacti Ventures Private Limited (CIN: U72900HR2019PTC081522), 931F, Sector 21, Panchkula, Haryana, India, contactable at services@enacti.com. Information held by Apple or by WeatherAPI.com is controlled by those companies, and enquiries about it should be directed to them.
10. International transfers
Because we do not receive your data, we do not transfer it internationally. Requests made to Apple and to WeatherAPI.com may be handled on servers outside your country, under those companies' own safeguards.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be described in the App Store release notes for the version that introduces them.
